Personally, things are pretty good. I'm about to finish tax school, and whether or not I'm offered a preparer position, I can still hold a sign for the company again this year. That doesn't begin until January, however. Xmas will probably not exist for me this year. Although, I am trying to sign up for Salvation Army bell ringer through the temps, and I have another fish on the line, but they don't seem to be following up very well.
I'm housed (although that could soon be in jeopardy again). I feel very grateful and lucky in that regard. I remember the years I was not. I remember that many of you still are not.
It's good to see the rest of the world calling the United States on their homeless policies. I've been saying for years that more can be done. The first thing we might want to do is stop helping other countries until we take care of our own. You always here people saying "Charity begins at home." I challenge them to put their money where their mouth is.
Check out the list of free holiday meals at the end of this week's listings. Also, I've added an entertainment section. If there is a film or TV with a homeless theme, or some entertaining fundraiser, such as a concert, You'll find it there. If you're in charge of, or know of any such event, please either leave the info in the comment window, or e-mail it to me at riograndereport@live.com .
