Special installment: The noble Olympics

The City of Vancouver and the Olympic committee were criticized for muscling the homelss people around the winter sport venues out of the neighborhood. The homelss people of Vancouver refused to back down, protesting, advocating, and making their presence known in every way possible.

Sadly, I don't recall anything similar to that when the Winter Olympics came to Salt Lake City in 2002. Perhaps our little town took a kinder approach to the "homeless problem" in relation to the event.

If you're aware of any such homeless activism at that time, please e-mail me at riograndereport@live.com, or leave a message by clicking the comment link at the bottom of this post.
