Homelessness, mental illnes being outlawed or "eliminated"

It gets harder and harder for me to be the staff of one for Rio Grande Report. It's not that it really entails all that much, it's just time-consuming. Work has picked up as we approach the end of the tax season (I've been a tax prepare since Jan.). You may have noticed a drop in links, or the quality of the content. My life is getting more active over thae last year since I got off the streets. I have less time to devote to this blog, scaning the headlines of hundreds of sources for relevant content and imagery.

That's why I ask those of you who share the desire to expose the injustices, recount the hardships, and address the issues of homeless people, to help. YOU Can submit an article, story, poem or artwork YOU'VE created.

The more people we have posting and linking, the more visible we become, and the more will be done to eliminate homelessness and poverty. Follow the example of the HS students in the article below. Get involved.

James Chasse, a mentally ill poet and musician, died in police custody after an altercation with the police. During that altercation, Chasse was tackled to the ground, punched, kicked, Tasered repeatedly and hogtied by police— resulting in 16 broken ribs, a number of abrasions, a broken shoulder, and having both lungs punctured.

A protest against police brutality takes place in Portland Oregon each year on the anniversary of his murder.
